Best Acne
Treatments
We generally say that the face is the mirror of our soul.
But what happens when the face is filled with acne scars? Is
there any best acne scar treatment available
to prevent acne scarring? Before discussing the acne scar
treatments we should first know what
causes acne.
Oily skin and over-dry skin are prone to acne.
How are Acne Scar Formed
The skin has pores that can get blocked, inflamed, and,
cause bacteria to grow. The result is a non-inflamed skin
blemish or lesion that appears either as white head or black
head (the little white or black marks especially found on the
nose) or inflammatory acne that appear in the form of comedo,
papule, pustule, nodule and cysts. The acne lesions are more
common on the face but can appear in other parts of the body as
well.
Scars form where injury to the tissue occurs due to
inflammation, bacteria, and dead cells. The body mechanism
works to repair the injury to the tissue with the white blood
cells but they do not do a neat job and leave a mark, scar, or
a blemish. In people susceptible to scarring, the scars last
for weeks, months, and even years.
Treat Acne Scars Early for Best Results
The general way to prevent acne scars is to
treat the acne early. Clean the skin and let it breathe without
any cream. Do not touch the blemish or pick on it. Rub ice over
the infected area for a while to get the swelling down and
allow acne medication to work better but ice alone will not
help.
Acne is often not cared for until it spreads and leaves
marks and scars. Most people pick on the acne that can leave
permanent scars on the face. Fast, overnight, and miraculous
treatment is not possible. Sometimes one or more treatments may
have to be tried for removal and complete treatment of the acne
scars based on the skin type. It is important to care for the
skin appropriately. Regular cleansing of the skin with a diet
that includes antioxidants is very essential to prevent and
avoid further recurrence of acne. Water helps to flush toxins
so drink plenty of water along with any kind of treatment.
Three types of Acne Scars
Three main types of scars can be caused by acne:
(1) Ice-pick scars - usually appear on the cheek and are like
an ice pick
(2) Acne pit - indented due to pimples or cysts that form scar
tissue with a slightly sunken or depressed appearance
(3) Keloids - raised scars due to overgrowth
It is advisable to see a dermatologist as acne treatment is
not always common but specific to an individual. The acne and
scars will be examined and suitable treatment provided.
